A "Fairness Doctrine" for All

One of the high stakes in the upcoming election is the possibility of Democrats seizing the Executive branch as well as retaining control of both houses of Congress.

Democrats have made quite a bit of noise about bringing back the "Fairness Doctrine". Talk radio is particularly irksome to Democrats who view it as being tilted largely toward conservatives. The perception that television and print media are largely tilted in favor of liberalism doesn't seem to concern Democrats.

The "airwaves" of radio and television "belong" to the "People of the United State" (read that as the Federal Government) and broadcasters receive their licenses from the U.S. Government. And so, Democrats figure they can dictate what can be heard. As they see it, Talk Radio isn't "fair" to liberal points of view.

If the recent treatment of Sarah Palin on certain network and cable television is not indicative of "unfairness" and a particular political persuasion, what is? But the truly insidious aspect of television media partiality is that they CLAIM to be "objective". Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Hugh Hewitt listeners tune in knowing what they are going to hear! PARTISANSHIP! They don't claim anything other than partisanship! But they don't exclude opposing points of view either.

Rush, Sean, Hugh and others can and do show their enthusiasm for Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain. But who does Chris Matthews think he is claiming "shivers" up his leg upon hearing a Barack Obama speech! Where is Chris Matthew's PUBLIC disclaimer that he is CLEARLY partisan!! Americans, as do I, want to tune into media outlets to be better informed. Not to be subjected to praise for one side and ridicule of the other (MY side!!).

And then there are the steady streams of high school and college age young people queing up for Obama and/or rioting in the streets. High school administrators in Los Angeles allow their charges out of classes - even BUS them - to political rallies such as pro-immigration rallies! I would ask the same question of schools, colleges and universities: "Where is your public disclaimer that you values and emphasis is NOT on education and information but INDOCTRINATION of young minds to your way of thinking?"

And so....I have a "Fairness Doctrine" to propose should the issue come up in the next Congress regarding talk radio.

By the way - if Equal Protection in the Constitution means anything, it should be applicable here. And if Congress can pass Title IX of the U.S. Codes causing schools and universities to shut down male baseball and football teams in favor of women's sports teams, then schools and universities are fair game for social engineering of the sort I am proposing here:

If Talk Radio is to be subjected to a "Fairness Doctrine", then a "Fairness Doctrine" will need to be applied across the board for nearly ALL institutions in America.

ALL workers in newspapers and broadcast journalism shall and will be required to submit affidavits and be subjected to questionaires and polygraph examination to TRUTHFULLY determine their political leanings prior to hiring and be subjected to annual review as to their opinions in the event they change. Staffing of all newspaper and broadcast journalism will have to "reflect America". Left-leaning "journalists" and commentators will have to give up their jobs to make room for the hiring of equal numbers of the other political persuasion.

This is "fair", is it not?

Likewise schools from Kindergarten through post-graduate will have to follow the same "fairness" in hiring practices. High Schools and Universities will NOT be allowed to staff their institutions with 90% politically "liberal"-leaning teachers and professors. They will NOT be allowed to promulgate their personal political views to malleable minds. Young people will not be graded down as a result of not adhering to their professor's personal political views. "Fairness" in education will put a stop to "liberal" indoctrination that turns your church-going, American-values children into tree-hugging, hateful, violent anti-everything protesters!! William Ayers and Ward Churchill may lose their professorships - but this is done in the name of "fairness".

What?  Liberals say this approach is "unfair"?? Smacks of a "police state"??

I am reminded of the Woody Allen movie, "Bananas". In the movie, the newly victorious banana republic, communist dictator addresses his subjects. He tells them he is upset at reports he is receiving that they are not changing their underwear daily. "So now I am ordering that you wear your underwear on the OUTSIDE........so we can check."

"Fair" enough??
